Public Build: WE'RE STILL SO BACK

Today’s public build rolls up a bunch of changes I made quite a while ago, along with more recent developments.

You can read about most of the changes by just looking at prior dev logs! Here’s what I did this week, though:

  • Digestion sounds no longer briefly play when entering a scene
  • Fixed some latex strands being visible in first person for Latex Fen
  • The Shark now mostly works right! It can eat people!
    • (Its ragdoll is really screwed up right now, though.)
  • Grabs now track the target more accurately. This prevents Fen from failing to grab fleeing prey.
  • Observation is working again. You can watch from one entity’s POV while controlling another.
    • Third person observer cameras move more smoothly now
  • Fen no longer stops far away from its target. This was keeping it from getting close enough to grab you…

I’m going to try and start writing down patch notes as I work on the game, because reading through my commit history afterwards isn’t that exciting. Here’s a sample…

  • 79450020 Remove some editor-only code from Body
  • d2c6fb0c Use deocclusion on the third person and orbit cams
  • 8e26f032 Fix lightmap generation and rebake lighting
  • 60972922 Refresh preset choices after saving a new one
  • 35248afa Remove the LOUD CUBE

What’s next?

I’d like to start putting out more coherent updates – rather than a bunch of random changes, it’d be mostly focused on one big idea, like:

  • Growth and macro/micro
  • New levels with more interesting designs
  • Hard vore and gore
  • Hypnosis

I don’t know which one is going to win out, though! We’ll find out soon enough (:

Are all typed of vore now toggable? Please make it that Fen can do all typed of vore before starting to add new mechanics. (It that is already solved, ignore this post)

Hypnosis is a quite hot feature. New levels with various environments would be nice. I liked the forest one for the typical horror movie setup.
Also if I can suggest to have sharks targeting gryphons over other sharks to create a more interesting dynamic between the "totally preys, shark preds and prey, and Fen".
In any way, I look forward for more updates :D

Huh, I thought Fen sometimes failing a grab was a feature, like a bit of inconstancy to help keep things interesting.
