Experimental build: Actual objectives, third person mode, a new basement

The latest build introduces actual objectives (but only in the basement). You need to flip four circuit breakers to open the exit door, which will then let you leave the level. Each breaker takes one second to activate.

It’s super basic right now. I’m planning to have a few different kinds of objectives, including ones that take longer to interact with. The switches DO get Fen’s attention by making a loud noise (no sound effect yet), though, so that’s something to make it a little more dangerous.

Also, I’m planning to add some kind of post-game screen (whether you escape or get skeletonized), rather than just dumping you into the main menu. That’ll take some time!

I added a third person camera. It’s one of the Style options, along with the “found footage” look.

Controller input should now work properly in spectator mode. Check the Controls submenus or just mash buttons to figure it out.

Misc stuff:

  • You can now close the menu by hitting backspace (or the east face button on your controller) when you’re at the top level.
  • I fixed a bug that prevented the menu from having anything selected when first opened (only an issue for controllers/keyboard navigation)
  • Sound falloff has been switched back to the default, since the custom falloff curve was way too loud.
  • Fen now has a “fast” movement speed. The old “slow” is now “normal”, which is now the default. “Slow” is now very slow!
  • The Basement level has a new, grungier look now.
