Experimental build: new perspectives, better spectating, and some more goop

It’s not Friday, but who cares?

Perspectives

You can now switch between three perspectives on all of the entities:

  • First person
  • Third person
  • Orbiting camera

You can switch freely between them. On desktop, press R. On a gamepad, press right on the D-pad.

When using the orbiting camera, you can zoom in and out. Use the scroll wheel on the destkop and up/down on the D-pad with a controller.

Observing

The Director menu now lets you observe an entity, in addition to possessing it. Observing an entity gives you its point of view without actually taking control of it.

I’ve found that using the orbit camera whilst observing Fen is a great way to watch that gut (:

Just like with possession, you can “un-observe” something by hitting backspace, or by holding both sticks down on a controller for a half-second (I will find a better combination for that later).

You can also now un-possess and un-observe an entity through the Director menu, if you currently have it selected.

Latex

I redid the latex shader a bit. It’s…latex-ier, I think!

Other stuff

  • I updated the look of the credits. They’re centered now. This will continue to be fiddled with.
  • The latex tendrils move more randomly now
  • Looking straight up or down no longer makes your camera rotate weirdly
